Apartment renovation in Kafkova street
Adam Jirkal, Jerry Koza
Atelier SAD achieved to create a dynamically variable interior in an intimate apartment intended for short-term rentals owned by company Holečkova Apartments. The main part of the historical corner apartment is a large living space with a kitchen and bedroom in one. The designers used the premises to the last centimeter and designed a sophisticated solution in hotel comfort quality. The dominant element of the whole project is a rotating bed. The circular bed is a kinetic object, a sculptural installation that allows immediate change the living room and bedroom in a spacious lounge. The bed consists of a circular wooden base and a high rounded apse. By simply turning it by 180 degrees, the raised headboard creates an elegant curved partition wall, which hides an unmade bed in a moment and completely changes the impression of the interior. The architects reflected about the dressing room in a similar way, and designed it as a huge pullout drawer. The kitchen is equipped with a custom-made multi-level counter, which transforms into a dining table. All this stands on six aluminum legs, which look like the landing construction of a space module.
